The 2025 Bookling Book Award: Submission Info!

I started The Bookling in 2017 with five students who wanted to give an award to the author whose book they loved.

This evolved into an event that includes close to 1,000 students, a podcast that our students run and even resulted in our students interviewing Malorie Blackman in front of 3,000 people at the London Palladium.

What I love most about the award is that it is entirely chosen by the students.

They vote on their favourite cover, blurb, first lines and of course overall book.

We then have a trophy made and ship it to the author after a live-social media event where students win the entire shortlist, which usually consists of eight books.

Over the last few years we've had a large number of dedicated students, who call themselves The Booklings, interested in reviewing books and helping to choose the winner.

I am really hoping to make the 2025 Bookling bigger and better for the students this year.

This is why we are offering publishers to send The Booklings your 2025 hopefuls.

Here is the criteria:

The book must be published in 2024.

The book must be aimed at Key Stage 3 students (ages 11-13).

The book should be published in the UK.

We do not accept books that are self published.

Each publisher is eligible to send up to 6 books.

The deadline to submit is Friday 6 Dec 2024.

The winning author will receive £250 as part of the prize and a trophy.

For further information, you can phone 020 8644 6307 or email lml@glenthorne.sutton.sch.uk

All entries should be sent to:

  1. Love this idea.So glad it has grown into this wonderful award given solely by students.Any author would feel grateful that their book has been critiqued and chosen by students who they have written their book for.Great work Mr.Maxwell
