Brownies & Books in the Library for Teachers!
In an attempt to reach out to teachers and ensure as many staff members have Library cards as possible, I recently hosted a very successful program that brought lots of new faces through the doors.
It's a very simple concept, I made homemade brownies, brought in coffee and tea and sent out flyers a few weeks in advance advertising the event.
Staff were invited to the Library to get a Library card, check out a book while getting a coffee and a brownie.
Lots of new staff came to the Library to get a Library card and browse the YA display I made. We also had a lot of current staff come to check if they actually had a Library card and others who had lost their card over the years.
It was really amazing to see tons of staff browsing the shelves, talking about books and asking each other about the kinds of books they like to read.
One teacher who came in a got her card for the first time told me that she just discovered she liked sci-fi so she went away happy with a copy of Ready Player One and another teacher who loved her copy of The Territory by Sarah Govett.
Teachers who enjoyed the Netflix film checked out copies of Dumplin' while others tried The Poet X and much more.
It was a fun, easy and cheap way to spend an hour connecting with staff at the end of a ridiculously busy term!
