Battle of the Books 2018!
It's time once again to launch our Battle of the Books competition!
The school's four houses will test their book knowledge in an attempt to be crowned the victor!
Here's how the competition works:
There are four teams, each team has 6 students.
Each team has 1 person to be the Leader / Spokesperson – teams can briefly discuss the answer but only the spokesperson can answer.
Gameplay:
Semi-Finals
The Semi-Finals consists of 3 Rounds of Play – Each Round consists of Regular Battle Questions & a Lightning Battle.
There are 12 Regular Battle Questions per round. Regular Battle Questions are addressed to the teams alternatively regardless of the last correct answer. When asked a question teams will have 20 seconds to provide the book’s title and author During this 20 second time period the team can have the question repeated as many times as they want but it cuts into their time – teams have 3 chances within that time period to answer correctly.
Five points are awarded if a team correctly answers the exact title and three points are awarded for correctly answering the author’s surname – their first name does not need to be answered.
Lightning Battle Questions
These are featured at the end of each round – they consist of a 2 minute, 30 second time period during which each team is asked up to 12 questions - these questions concern details of the book and do not require teams to identify authors or titles. Each correct guess is worth 3 points. These scores will be added to the Regular Battle scores for each team
When a tie-breaker is needed teams will be asked extra Lightning Battle Questions – as many as they can answer in 20 seconds – whoever has the most points at the end wins that round.
Top 3 Teams from the Semi-Final go on to the Final Round.
The Final Round is delivered in the same way.
