Manga Club: 5 Second Rule and Exquisite Corpse!

 This week in Manga Club we played a couple of great games that the students loved.


The first was a manga-styled version of 5 Second Rule. 5 Second Rule is a game where you are given just 5 seconds to name 3 different things. The cards have things like "Name 3 Things You Find At An Airport" or "Name 3 Things That Annoy Your Parents."

It sounds easy until you're faced with the 5 second timer counting down. I spent an hour coming up with manga questions like "Name 3 Manga Villains" and "Name 3 Ways to Promote Your Favourite Manga to Your Friends."

This is a game that can be adapted to any book club or teen activity, they loved playing it!


The next game was called Exquisite Corpse and has a long history. We took a piece of A3 paper and divided the students into two teams of five.


One team member drew a head. It could be the head of anything, a person, a monster, animal, whatever. Then they fold the paper so the next person can't see it and that person draws a body of whatever they want. Then the next person draws the feet and so on.


The result is a surrealist manga creation that everyone can enjoy!


It was a lot of fun, again, this is a game that can be used with any teen club!
