Number 5:


A visit with author Holly Bourne!


In November 2016 Holly visited with all of our Year 10s in the Hall and then with a smaller group in the Library. Her discussion with the students was the most honest I'd seen since becoming a school librarian. It's been wonderful to see how popular her books have become since the visit and the students who met her still talk about it. Click on the image below to see the original post!

Number 4:

Last summer I made "Welcome Back Bags" to all staff at Glenthorne. Inside the bags were things like bookmarks, pens and buttons along with a postcard highlighting the services the library provides and a message from Eve Ainsworth, our Patron of Reading.

Sharing book returns with #bookdroplife

After taking pictures of book returns I decided to make a hash tag out of it and #bookdroplife was born. Taking pics of returns has helped me keep track of what's popular in the school and it's been a lot of fun sharing with other schools and authors around the world! Blind Date with a Book: 19th Century Edition!

I recently partnered with the English Dept to try and make classic 19th century literature more appealing to Year 10 students. To do this we held a Blind Date with a Book. Students were given a quick overview of the books available then they had to choose one from the pile of wrapped up books. Each book had a clue written on it so they had some idea what it was about.

We are currently in the midst of a 19 Century Reading Challenge with a big finale next week. Click on the image below for the full article!

A Twitter Chat with Darren Shan!

Our Twitter chat series, know as #booklingschat has been one of our most popular programs this year. We've had over 15 authors take part in the series this school year. Darren Shan's was by far the most popular with several students take part to ask the horror author a question.
