A Skype with Author Lisa Heathfiled!
To help celebrate our Book Award, which you can find out more about here, we Skyped with one of the finalists, author Lisa Heathfield. Lisa wrote Paper Butterflies, a harrowing tale about a young girl abused by her stepmother and forced into an almost impossible situation.
Close to 120 Year 9 students came to the library to speak to Lisa. She spoke about how she always wanted to be a writer and how writing "dark" material comes almost naturally to her, she doesn't see herself writing more light hearted books any time soon.
She then recommended books to our students and gave them inspirational writing advice. A great way to promote our Book Award and introduce the students to a great author!
