A Skype visit with Richard Kurti
This week over 60 Year 7 students came to the Library to speak with author & screenwriter Richard Kurti.
It was one of the most interesting Skype visits we've had, Richard told us a fascinating yet very sad story about his grandparents being murdered by the Nazis in a concentration camp and how his parents fled Vienna during the war to the come to the UK.
He then split the screen into parts, showing the students different slides that illustrated his writing process and his inspiration.
Richard showed the students several different book covers for his latest book, then asked the students which one they preferred. All the covers looked great in my opinion but the vote was overwhelmingly with one particular cover - the cover that just happened to be the one that Richard's publisher chose as well.
Richard then took questions from the students, feedback from them was very good after the session and I will be having Richard back to speak to Year 8s sometime in the near future!
