Student Book Review: The Bunker Diary

 

 

This novel is set around a boy named Linus, who lives in a ‘un-loving’ family, they basically chuck him out at an early age. The novel starts with him on the streets and how he started living there; throughout the novel, you hear the insights of his parents, divorce and violence between his parents.

As you begin to get a developed image of Linus, you begin to grow worried for him. Why? You grimly discover he was kidnapped by a man posing as a blind man.

The book is an insight of Linus’ time in a bunker, which is where he was taken by the kidnapper. As you read, the novel goes on you get to meet other characters who also fall to the tragedy of kidnapping – strangely, most of them are adults. Throughout the novel you ask yourself questions: Who is the kidnapper? Does he escape? Why is he being kidnapped? Is there a reason for the whole thing?

The novel kept me on the edge of my seat, it gives a constant excitement to the reader. A book worth reading!
